Membership renewals are once more upon us, as stated at the AGM the increases have been kept to the rate of inflation with a round up or down to cut out the shillings and pence. Enclosed with this news letter are the 2007 Membership and Berthing forms plus a further form for parents and guardians attention. This last form is very important and should be read carefully.
Rack/cupboard and locket holders please fill in all details including whether you have prepaid or not?
If you have already paid your membership and I have your details please ignore.
Please note if you wish to pay by postdated cheques they must be received by the 15th March. |

I would like to begin this note by thanking all the members for all their hard work over the last 12 months. It is really noticeable and the enthusiasm generated throughout the club is catching. It is so nice to have non committee members coming forward volunteering for various jobs around our club.
Members may have noticed the club is currently being rewired, which was a necessity to comply with new health and safety laws. The cost to the club for this work will be in the region of £6,000.
Another expense incurred will be the cost of a new boiler and radiators to the heating system, and this is expected to cost around £2,500. Both these jobs are essential for the day to day running of the club.
Maintenance is ongoing so any help from members will be greatly appreciated during the coming year.
We would like to start decorating the interior of the club this year and the exterior is looking a little ‘tired’ as well. I will be gathering a work party together over a couple of weekends when the electrical work has finished. Look out for the notices where you can put your name down as volunteers!!
The kitchen has recently closed and will hopefully be up and running by Easter. This area also needs cleaning and updating.
Looking back we had a good season last year for sailing and social events and I am confident this can be repeated, with the current support from the members. Remember it is your club and if you have any suggestions about what you would like to see, please feel free to contact me or any members of the committee.
Look forward to seeing you on the water, in the bar, or on the golf course.
Thanks again for all your support.

Boat Park Clearance: This annual event will take place over the weekend of 10th/11th March and we ask all sailors (and any other volunteers) to come down on one or both days to tidy up the grounds and get ready for the new season.
Pre-season lunch and briefing: This will take place on Sunday 11th March during the boat park clearance weekend. I hope as many sailors will be there as possible.
Cadets: RYA training for our cadets will be made available to us at Pagham Lagoon. Any interested parents should contact a member of the sailing committee for further information. Sailing for both windsurfers and dinghies will take place during the summer months on some Wednesday evenings depending on the tide – full details will be advised nearer the time.
Regis Committee Boat: This year we will have a new improved launch trolley (thanks to David Tedd). The woodwork on the boat will be re-varnished and a new engine will be ordered in March. This will enable us to have some better racing with occasional committee boat starts (when crew are available).
Race Officers: Last year we were pleased to welcome new Race Officers on board who have been a great asset to the sailing. We are still looking for more volunteers to go on the rota for this important task. The more non-sailing members we have means that the sailors can stay on the water and enjoy more of the racing. If you are interested please see Brenda or myself. There will be open practical training sessions for new recruits or anyone who would like a refresher course during the following races – |

My appointment on the committee is to oversee the running of the catering. The committee has decided to bring the catering in-house to provide a continuous service for members. It is hoped to employ salaried staff for the provision of basic fayre during the week and weekends and encourage members to utilize fully the clubs facilities. Members are also encouraged to showcase their culinary skills with themed nights such as Curry, Mexican or Italian for example.
Our first venture will be the ladies night (10th March) and we will require waiters, cooks and sink help.
If anyone has any unwanted usable serving bowls, dishes or trays that they are willing to donate to the club would they please contact me.
Due to rewiring and deep cleaning the kitchen will be closed for a short period.
During this time if anyone has any suggestions or proposals reference the kitchen would that please contact me via the club. |
